Photoshop CS4 question: How do i fade an image into another image?

With photoshop, you can use gradients to fade an image into a solid color. This is very useful, however I have seen images and animations where it looks like multi-colored images have been faded into other multi-colored images. This seems impossible to do with the stock photoshop cs4 gradients. If there is a way to do this with photoshop, please let me know, if not, can you suggest a program that has a feature like this?

Thanks in advance for your answers.Photoshop CS4 question: How do i fade an image into another image?
I am not exactly sure what you are asking but to have images fade out or in you need to use the animation tools.

Once your there you can either change the layer occupancy a little down each time you make a new key in the animation bar. Or you can choose the gradient with one side color and the other side checkerboard like which has the effect of having part of the image there and the rest fading out to the image behind it on another layer.

Hope this helps if not just search for a tutorial along the lines of the title of your question.
